APPLICATION FOR THE WINTER TERM 2023/24

In order to make it easier for you to apply, applications for the winter term 2023/24 will be submitted via an application coach from our side.

Target Audience

This course is for students that want to achieve special knowledge of innovative technologies in Photonics. Additionally this course adresses working people with bachelor‘s degree, that seek a higher occupational qualification by master‘s degree. These people study extra-occupationally without losing their job.

The organisation of the study program offers all subjects as part-time concept in 4 semesters:

  • 2 days per week lectures
  • 1 - 3 days per week professional life (students apply self-reliant at regioanl companies)

Alternatively

  • conventional study course in 3 semesters without professional work

Application an admission

The course starts in summer semester and winter semester and the application has to be send until January 15th for summer and July 15th for winter

Please note that our Master's program in Applied Photonics can only be studied on-site. Students are required to attend lectures in person. Therefore, it is mandatory for you to be in Aalen and participate in lectures no later than two weeks after the start of the semester. Since it is not possible to make up for the material and the integrated practical experiments, we only accept students who are present on-site in Aalen and attend the lectures in person within the specified timeframe.

The lectures for the summer semester 2025 will begin on March 18, 2025. This means you must be in Aalen no later than April 1, 2025. For the winter semester 2025/26, lectures will begin on October 7, 2025, and you must be in Aalen no later than October 21, 2025.

Please take this into consideration when applying and ensure that you account for the time needed to secure an appointment at the embassy and at least additional four weeks to obtain your visa.

  • A high quality Bachelor or Diploma degree in Physics or Engineering, e.g. in Electronics, Optoelectronics, Mechatronics or Optometry
  • Profound English (B2)
  • Fundamental German (A2)

§ 3 Sprachnachweise

Bewerber und Bewerberinnen müssen bei ihrer Bewerbung einen Nachweis über die erforderlichen englischen Sprachkenntnisse erbringen. Der Sprachnachweis über die erforderlichen Englischkenntnisse auf dem Niveau B2 ist durch die Vorlage eines der folgenden Dokumente zu erbringen:

  1. Deutsche Hochschulzugangsberechtigung mit der Angabe über das erreichte Sprachniveau,
  2. TOEIC (L&R) mit einer Mindestpunktzahl von 785,
  3. TOEFL (iBT) mit einer Mindestpunktzahl von 72,
  4. TOEFL (ITP) mit einer Mindestpunktzahl von 543,
  5. Cambridge First mit mindestens dem Grade B, 
  6. Cambridge CAE oder CPE mit mindestens dem Grade C,
  7. IELTS mit einer Mindestbewertung von 6.0,
  8. PTC Academic B2 mit einer Mindestpunktzahl von 65 oder
  9. UNIcert II-Zertifikat mit einer Mindestnote von 2,3.
