Faculty Structure and Governance

Since 1980, the Business Sciences are formed as separate Faculty at Aalen University of Applied Sciences (UAS). The faculty has historically developed out of the technology. The Business Engineering (W) was the first study programme offered by the Faculty. In further expansion two Bachelor study programmes followed: International Business Studies and Business for Small and Medium-sized enterprises. In the winter semester 2007/2008 the Bachelor study programme Health Management was launched in a close cooperation with the Barmer GEK. During the same semester the first two Master study programmes (Industrial Management and Management) were set up.

The Faculty has grown rapidly in recent years. With the beginning of the winter semester 2014/2015 three new study programs in computer science came to the faculty: Business Informatics as a Bachelor and Master study programme as well as Business Informatics as a part-time Master study programme. In the winter semester 2016/2017 three more Master study programmes are going to start start: Financial Management, Business Development/ Product Management & Start-up-Management and the new part-time programme IT-Security Management. Moreover, in the winter semester 2018/2019 a Bachelor degree programme in Business psychology has been established successfully and with the start of the winter term 2020/2021 a new Bachelor degree programme in Business Analytics will start. In winter semester 2022/2023, the Health Management degree programme will be strengthened by a further Bachelor's degree with Physician Assistant (PA). The new Master's in Business Sustainability and Leadership (MBL) also started in the summer semester 2023. A new Master's programme in Business Psychology and Sustainability (BSP) will also follow in winter semester 2024/2025 and the Master's in Business Development Product and Start-up Management (MBD) will be added to the faculty.

Today the Faculty of Management and Business Science is with about 2,000 students (university-wide, approximately 4,500 students) the greatest faculty of UAS. Currently, 57 professors are teaching in eight bachelor study programmes and nine master study programmes.

WIN building

With the opening of the new WIN building in June 2024, not only the Faculty of Management and Business Science, which currently comprises around 40 per cent of all students at Aalen University, has a new home. The International Centre, which looks after the growing number of international students, is also delighted to have found its place in the imposing eight-storey cuboid building. It offers around 3,500 square metres of space for 800 people and connects the Beethovenstrasse campus with the Burren in the forest campus, which is currently under construction.

The new WIN building offers students, staff and professors a unique place to learn, work and conduct research. The forest campus is characterised by its natural location and innovative teaching approaches. The new location not only creates an inspiring atmosphere for students, but also promotes a close link between theory and practice.
