Senate

In accordance with the “Landeshochschulgesetz” (English: State university law), the Senate decides on research, teaching, studies and adult education if these duties are not assigned to other committees or faculties. The Senate has primary jurisdiction over the following matters (excerpt from LHG, section 19 (1)) among others:

  • Wahl der hauptamtlichen Rektoratsmitglieder gemeinsam mit dem Hochschulrat
  • Wahl der nebenamtlichen Rektoratsmitglieder
  • Zustimmung zu Struktur- und Entwicklungsplänen
  • Stellungnahme zu Entwürfen des Haushaltsvoranschlags oder zum Wirtschaftsplan
  • Stellungnahme zu Funktionsbeschreibungen
  • Beschlussfassung im Zusammenhang mit der Festsetzung von Zulassungszahlen
  • Beschlussfassung über Satzungen und die Grundordnung

University Council

The University Council supports the university and takes responsibility for the its development.

Its most important duties include:

  • Supervision of the Rector’s Office management
  • Election of the full-time rectorate members together with the senate
  • Resolutions on structure and development plans and plans for constructional development
  • Commentary on basic regulations and changes thereof
  • Resolution on the economic plan of the university and annual accounts
