Students from all over the world at the International Festival
Smoothies out of muscle strength! With this motto, visitors at the International Festival could ‘pedal out’ a smoothie last Sunday with the self-constructed Smoothie-Bike of Aalen University. Students from Aalen University and international visiting students from the German-Jordanian University ran the activity.
Over 200 excited visitors enjoyed a fruity and self-mixed smoothie in edible waffle cones. Children were especially pleased to try out the bicycle, and used all their strength to turn the mixer. Additionally, visitors chatted with international students from Jordan, Africa or Spain. During the discussions, many students talked about treats from their home countries. Besides smoothies, visitors could also try Jordanian rice pudding, prepared by the students. “The operation was very successful for sustainability and for cultural exchange,” said Daniela Dorrer, consultant for sustainability at Aalen University. The Department for Sustainable Development supervised the campaign that the six students from the degree program Industrial Engineering organized.
